Email Marketing Tips for Salons and Spas

Email marketing is the single most effective—and inexpensive—tool your salon or spa has to connect with clients and grow your business… but are you getting the most out of your email marketing?

If you’re thinking about expanding (or starting) your email marketing efforts for your salon or spa, here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Send a welcome email

If you’ve never sent email marketing before, or you haven’t connected in awhile, it’s always a good idea to remind people why they’re on your list, and reassure them that good things are in store. You might even send new subscribers a special offer or exclusive content, as a way to immediately engage and boost loyalty.

Make it easy to subscribe

Post a signup for your newsletter on your homepage, blog, Facebook page, and wherever else your clients and fans are active. The form can be a simple: Name, Email – or you can ask for birthdays or some preferences. Don’t go too overboard, less is more when you’re asking for subscriptions.

Provide valuable content

The quickest way to a SPAM folder or an unsubscribe is through sending too much junk content to your subscription base. Provide people with the content they want – engaging and relevant news, or special offers or sales you might be hosting. Segmentation is your friend with email marketing, so that you send relevant content to the right people.

Test, tweak, and test again

You don’t have to go into email marketing as an SEO and content whiz, but you should always test and tweak your message and content. Be open to learning about your clients, testing messages, layout, and even offers to see which ones drive more engagement and sales to your salon or spa. Then keep tweaking and test again! If you do this consistently, and track it – you’ll soon have a wealth of information on your clients, including knowing the best way to communicate with them.
